Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri [10/10]
The trailer for Gate really hooked me so I decided to give it a try and boy it was one of the best out of this whole season! The characters and the relationship between the two different worlds were really thought out and throwing in the political issues in really made the story “POP” and kept it interesting. The artwork was of course top notch, from the busy street of Tokyo to the calming nature of the forest, all had their own “feel” to them which also helped to differentiate the difference between the worlds. From what I’ve heard on the internet, the manga for Gate is a far more darker than the anime adaptation portrayed however; I’m glad the anime gave it a lighter feel it, in turn, makes the anime easier to watch and get into, which leads you to actually reading the manga (which I plan to do once I get some free time). Character development wasn’t too bad considering the amount of characters that were shown, a little more would’ve been nice but I can understand why there wasn’t much of it. Most of the story consists of political matters between the two worlds and I think that fits the story better than needless character development, it really brings out the story and makes it interesting. Another thing that was really enjoyable was the opening and the ending of Gate. They used a great band to do the opening and then for an ending used the voice actor of the three main heroines, and it just sounds really good. The story doesn’t seem to be over, with the problem of the fire dragon coming up again so I’m anticipating a season 2 just not sure when it’ll be aired. And last but not least…….TUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKAAAAAAAA ISSSSS WAIIIIFFFUUUUUUUUUUU (WHERE’S THE FIGURE!?!?). That is all.
