Ano Natsu de Matteru [10/10]
Finally have the energy and motivation to do this review XD. I’ve heard about Ano Natsu de Matteru for a LOOOOOONG time now and just recently got around to watching it and GOD DAMN, IT’S BEAUTIFUL. Many great qualities in this anime, the character development is deep and well paced, the art work is breath taking, and the story was an unexpected rollercoaster even until the VERY END.
“When a group of friends decide to make a movie over a long summer holiday, they end up learning a little about filmmaking and a lot more about each other and themselves. What begins as a simple way to avoid the summer doldrums quickly turns into something much more complex, intimate and revealing, as the maturing relationships between the members of the young cast take on new, and sometimes very unexpected, turns.” -http://myanimelist.net
The character development was probably the winning point for me. If I would have to compare it to something the closest thing would be Anohana (The Flower We Saw That Day). YES IT’S THAT GOOD!! And the artwork is proabbly on par with it as well! The story is another animal by itself. It’s a strange mix of slice of life and sci-fi and I had no idea where it was going even at the very end! Although I did call what was gonna happen to the three diversion groups at the end XD (you’ll understand if you watch it ;D). I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE TO ANYONE (BEGINNERS/VETERANS) IT’S A GREAT WATCH THAT’LL HAVE YOU LAUGHING AND CRYING UNTIL THE END.
