Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge [11/10]

“This unconventional, surrealist comedy follows an exhausted high school boy who, despite multiple attempts from his friends, still manages to spectacularly… sleep. Much to the chagrin of the energetic (at times bossy) Outa, Tanaka is often found in a blissful state of lethargy, possessing the ability to doze off in any situation, especially in mid-sentence!” -Crunchyroll

Tanaka-kun is, hands down, my favorite of this season (and no less than top 3 on my entire list!). This simple slice-of-life is perfect in every possible way. One thing you have to understand is that, especially for those of you who like story-driven anime (like Attack on Titan, One PIece, Fairy Tail, Tokyo Ghoul), Tanaka-kun is more like going on a walk rather than going to a concert, or a nap rather than playing volleyball. It’s a different style of anime so I’d say give it a try. Tanaka-kun stays true to the style of the story, animation, and the characters. The animation and color scheme that the anime takes on has a soft touch to it. Which is nice and soothing, and the characters are EXTREMELY lovable. Again there is no real story, as the anime just follows Tanaka’s day-to-day life but all the characters make it a fun experience. The OST, OP, and ED again are great for the feel of what the anime is about. The feeling of being listless and just relaxing, nothing to stress you out is prominent through the entire anime. it’s easy to watch and I’d recommend this to anyone who’s just starting to get into anime, and I’m sure some veterans will enjoy this as well! AND SHOUT OUT TO WCDONALD’S GIRL FOR MAKING IT THROUGH THE DAY WITH TANAKA AND OUTA, YOU DA REAL MVP! I’m usually known for watching anime that are heavily story-driven with a lot of action, but sometimes it’s nice just to step back and watch a relaxing slice-of-life.
