Now their “School Idol Project” begins to make their dreams come true!” -Official Website
Love live had me from the beginning with μ’s with the combination of 2d and 3d choreography animation working seamlessly together. Not to mention the great characters and moving story about saving their school! The first season had some originality to it that made it interesting to watch, Love Live Sunshine; however, does not. From the get go there were too many parallels to the original: 3 idols from each grade level, The school is in danger of shutting down. a third year refusing to join the group, the main character being an eccentric girl who does things on a whim etc. BUT don’t get me wrong I still enjoyed Aquors! I don’t think there is a character that I dislike in the show (1st years are best girls plus Mari XD). I just think that the show could’ve been told in a different way, especially the last episode. During the last episode in the middle of the Love Live competition they preformed a theatrical recap of the events leading up to the final episode. And I just thought that that was unnecessary. It would have been much better for them to just animate an entire live on stage and then show the results of their performance. But instead it ends in the middle of a song, Chika running out of the stadium (in the middle of the competition), and a scene of the computer screen that reads One Applicant. I don’t think one was enough to save the school, and there’s no epilogue to confirm whether they saved the school or not. Overall great characters, mediocre story, and inconclusive ending. (PS St. Snow need to learn some manners because they are rude af.)
