Bungou Stray Dogs 2nd Season [Review]

Bungou Stray Dogs is back and better than ever! I was really excited when I found out that season was greenlit and on the way! I needed more Kyouka-chan!! TAT This season was packed with lots of action and even more character development!

————————————————————————-

“It is worthless. The words of your past are fundamentally unrelated to who you are now.”

-Akutagawa Ryuunosuke (Episode 12)

Story:

The first four episodes of the season consist of when Dazai-san was still a part of the Port Mafia, we begin to understand the reason why he left and how he has become the way he is. I enjoyed the Dazai arc, because it shows a more serious side that we haven’t seen before and that makes Dazai-san a more interesting and compelling character. Starting from the fifth episode the story continues where the first season left off with the beginning of the war of the gifted. Kyouka-chan and Atsushi-kun are going to become key elements in the fight against the Guild and the Port Mafia.

Artwork & Animation:

The animation is much more intense than it was last season, with all the fight scene going on. The character designs for the new character (mostly from the Guild) look fantastic, and the artwork is beautiful as expected from Bones (animation company). I enjoy the style change when the atmosphere goes from very serious to very relaxed. The funny scenes have a more loose art style whereas the serious scene the facial expressions are more refined. That brings out the most in situation and environment that they’re in.

Character(s):

Of course, Kyouka-chan is the favorite since her debut in season 1. but I think the more interesting character development has to be the duo of Akutagawa and Atsushi. In the last episode, we get a glimpse of a new possible enemy *cough*hintatseasonthree*cough* and Dazai-san himself said that they were the only ones who could stand up to them. So I’m curious to see how their relationship will develop. I enjoy the opposites being “friends”, I can see them arguing over who will defeat the enemy first!!

Sound (OST & Voice Acting):

The voice actors did an excellent job on this season as well! The emotions were there and the finals episodes got me all tense! Especially when Astushi yelled “KYOUKA-CHAN!!”, it sent shivers down my spine and tears down my face TAT. As much as I love the OP by SCREEN mode, I enjoyed the ED by LUCK LIFE much more! It’s always making me begging for me episodes!!!

Enjoyment:

Absolutely loved every second of this season! I highly recommend it for anyone who hasn’t seen Bungou Stray Dogs! Also, anything by Bones is also great so be sure to check them out!

Overall: 10

Easy 10 in my opinion, everything was well thought out, the presentation was excellent. I mean what more could an anime fan want?
