Stella no Mahou [Review]

“Upon enrolling in high school, Tamaki Honda joins a club for making doujin games known as the SNS Club. Joined by programmer Shiina, writer Ayame, and composer Kayo, Tamaki begins working as an illustrator for the club’s next game.”

I’m always a fan of the “behind the scenes” type anime, this time it’s about a school club that makes their own games! I’m also making a game, so this anime was just the right motivation to get me going! Filled with cute characters and funny situations, it’s sure to keep you laughing!

Essentially, Stella no Mahou is a slice-of-life revolving around Tama-chan and her club the makes games! Everything that’s in the process of making a game is depicted pretty accurately, especially the all nighter that they pull off to make sure that finish the game in time for conventions and events! The Redbull gags hit home and every time it popped up I laughed until I couldn’t breathe!

Artwork & Animation:

I adored the character designs, they speak well with each characters unique personality. I also like the color palette of the entire show, there’s a lighter and more fluffy coloring the goes on and it sets the happy and carefree type mood that the anime itself set up.

Stella no Mahou has such cute characters, each with their own quirks and merits! Shiina (my personal (favorite) is very dependable and mature but is terrified of talking to strangers, and usually, breaks down in a fever when exposed to too many strangers at once. Tama-chan is quite amusing as well, she great at drawing and what’s her favorite characters to draw??? COOL OLD MEN, Yeah you heard me right! It’s funny to see her fall to her comfort zone and everyone is shocked at her drawings!

Sound (OST & Voice Acting):

The OP is extremely catchy, and the way the visuals stick to the game theme is nice! The ED is probably my favorite! There’s something about electronic type music that drew me in, and it even has really cool visuals?! I always stick through the ED to hear it and watch the visuals!

Most definitely enjoyed Stella no Mahou, I don’t think we’ll be getting a season 2 anytime soon, but if it gets announced I will be very happy!

Overall: Score 10

It’s a straight forward anime and easy to watch! I’d say it’s perfect for beginning anime watcher who enjoys the cute/moe type anime! Similar to Kiniro Mosaic, and Non non biyori!
