Okusama ga Seitokaichou! [Review]

“Hayato Izumi is running for student council president. He’s studious, responsible, down to earth…and completely outmatched by his rival, Ui Wakana. Ui wins in a landslide after promising comprehensive sex education, free condoms, and other exciting reforms. Bloodied but not discouraged, Hayato licks his wounds and settles for vice president. Then Ui moves in with him. As it turns out, their parents made a drunken promise decades ago that their children would one day marry. Ui and Hayato must now balance school life with matrimony, keeping their relationship secret from a prudish student body and learning to live with each other. Can they keep the student council in line and find happiness together? Find out in Okusama ga Seitokaichou!” -myanimelist.net
If you like ecchi, high school life type anime, but don’t have that much time to watch full 24-minute episodes, then Okusama ga Seitokaichou is the anime for you!
————————————————————————-
Story:
Okusama ga Seitokaichou is your typical ecchi, “I accidentally grabbed your boob as I fell” type anime. We’ve all seen that type of anime *cough*ToLoveRu*cough*. And at some points in the show, the ecchi can go a little overboard. But what makes Okusama ga Seitokaichou stand out is its use of such short episodes. Just within 8 minutes, we get as much satisfaction from this as we do from another generic ecchi anime that would take 3 times as long!
Artwork & Animation:
Art is pretty minimal on the background side of the anime, no big scenery scenes to be seen, but I do appreciate the simplicity, it gets the point across without being overwhelming. And that in turn allow the characters to stand out a bit more. The character designs are quite nice, especially for an anime this short.
Character(s):
I wish there is more character development for everyone, this has the makings of something a lot more meaningful, but as it is, it’s very skeletal. If we could get some character development and story for everyone it’d make the show a lot more powerful.
Sound (OST & Voice Acting):
Love Wakana’s Voice actor and his expressiveness and retorts at the girls when they decide to do ridiculous things! Everyone else was so-so and the OST didn’t stand out too much either.
Enjoyment:
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this! If you have the time, then I say give this one a shot! Just don’t watch it in public (if you know what I’m saying lol).
Overall: Score 8
With a nice pace for 8-minute episodes, but with an inadequate amount of character, Okusama ga Seitokaichou is a good for short breaks and laughs. If you’re looking for a nice story to attach to, you might want to look elsewhere.
