I’ve been interested in Shogi since watching the first season of 3gatsu no Lion and Ryuuou no Oshigoto came at the perfect time!

Plot (In my own words):

Kuzuryuu, Yaichi, 16,  became the youngest Ryuuou (literally meaning Dragon King). a title that is given only to the strongest Shogi player. But after winning his title he seems to have fallen into a slump, until he meets Hinatsuru, Ai. Ai shows incredible potential to be a very powerful shogi player having pushed even Kuzuryuu on the ropes in a shogi match. She asks to be his disciple and learn his way across the Shogi board and thus begins the journey of our lovable Teacher and student pair.

Recommendation:

As cliché as Ryuuou no Oshigoto may seem, I think it has some good qualities that could make it a very enjoyable anime to watch! As a fan of shogi, it’ll be interesting to see their take on the Japanese board game. If you love high school anime and you like shogi then I suggest you give it a try!
