Ore ga Suki nano wa Imouto dakedo Imouto ja Nai (First Impression)

Plot:
“Suzuka Nagami is a beautiful third-year middle school student who has excellent grades and is the student council president. She wrote a novel about a little sister who dotes on her older brother, and the novel wins a light novel award. After they discuss the matter, Yuu is the one who debuts as a proxy light novel author instead of Suzuka, under the pen name Chikai Towano.” -Anime News Network
First Impression:
A perfect little sister…becoming famous in an otaku hobby…the story already sounds very familiar. Anyway, while the premise isn’t anything new, the execution of the story is actually quite entertaining. The character themselves, while still cliché, have a freshness (is that a word?) to them because we haven’t seen these types of characters in a while (or that might just be me…). But let’s talk about the artwork. I always talk about derpy faces on some of my reviews of other anime but when I say that, I usually mean there were a few scenes that had it. Well, Ore ga Suki nano wa Imouto dakedo Imouto ja Nai has a derpy face IN EVERY SCENE. The art is uncomfortably bad and that’s sugar coating it.
Recommendation:
NO
While I, personally, think the story is entertaining enough to keep watching, this isn’t a show for everyone. The artwork being bad is one of the biggest turn-off factor for a lot of people and if you’re one of those people, I wouldn’t even bother with this one. For those interested, I say give it the “3-episode rule”!
