Dororo (First Impression)

Plot:

“A samurai lord has bartered away his newborn son’s organs to forty-eight demons in exchange for dominance on the battlefield. Yet, the abandoned infant survives thanks to a medicine man who equips him with primitive prosthetics—lethal ones with which the wronged son will use to hunt down the multitude of demons to reclaim his body one piece at a time, before confronting his father. On his journeys, the young hero encounters an orphan who claims to be the greatest thief in Japan.” – Vertical Inc.

First Impression:

Right from the beginning, Dororo is giving off a very strong Rurouni Kenshin vibe with the setting and the art style. The idea of gaining back body parts as you fight the demons that your Dad brought to life is the most unorthodox concept I have ever heard and I’M SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. The animation is already stellar and I’m excited to see how far this anime will take it!

Recommendation:

YES

Dororo is an excellent show, at least from the first episode, and I highly recommend trying this one out. I don’t know how it didn’t make it to my Winter 2019 anime selection but I’m glad I have good friends with good tastes! It is quite gruesome so be prepared for a bloodbath…or a few….or actually…a lot…
