Life Update and Future of KiritoNarukami

Hello beautiful people!

Long time no post! It’s been a while since I’ve made a post here on the blog and I just wanted to let all of you know what’s been happening and some big changes for the KiritoNarukami blog.

First off – Where have I been?

And the answer is…all over the place! As some of you know, I work as an architect at a firm. Well, recently I’ve been feeling awful about going to work because of poor management, an ungodly amount of work hours, and being on a project that just doesn’t make me feel very good (I was assisting with designing a jail…not quite my cup of tea..). After some conversations with a past co-worker, I found a job at another firm that focuses mostly on healthcare projects like hospitals! I just love the idea of being able to help people through design and so I took the position right away. So that took quite a bit of time and A LOT of adulting which is extremely taxing.

After putting in my two weeks and finalizing the exit items that I needed to do I had some time to sit down for a bit. While I wanted to work on the blog, I had an itch to try something new and I wanted my brain and intuition to take control after forcing myself to do things I didn’t like for so long. That itch was satisfied through live streaming! I actually had a couple of friends who were already into live streaming so I figured I’d give it a try! So the two weeks that I had off before starting my job again, that’s what I did every waking moment. I’d get out of bed and do research on how to improve my stream, what equipment I needed, what games I wanted to play, what aesthetic I wanted to portray. It was exhilarating and a wonderful creative outlet! I live-streamed for 3 hours every day playing a variety of games for 2 weeks straight and was able to be a Twitch Affiliate! I couldn’t believe it! Twitch has been a great way of connecting with all of my friends that I don’t talk to on a daily basis and also meeting new people as well as getting through my ridiculously large game backlog (darn you Black Friday and Steam sales!). And since transitioning into the new job, I’ve been streaming games 2 to 3 times a week.

What’s next for the blog?

I originally started this blog as a way to cope with the “post anime depression”, you know that feeling you get when you finish binging a really good show and then you get to the credits on the last episode and you just sit there in the darkness contemplating about the meaning of life? Yeah, that feeling was the worst, but I found resolution in writing about it. It helped me wrap up and record my thoughts on what I loved (and hated) about a show! It was a major stress relief and at the same time, I wanted to help others that were on the fence about a certain anime. Of course, my opinion id purely my own and it really shouldn’t affect what you like and don’t like because we all love different things, but I wanted to be able to share a show that gave me an amazing experience with others!

During my time off, I had a lot of time to think. I came to the realization that I will never be able to catch up on anime! I just enjoy anime so much and I just want to be able to watch every single show and episode! But that has consequences, sure I can keep up with a lot of seasonal anime (I’ve done this for years) but the problem is being able to sit down and write about it. with an 8 hour job and now with streaming it’s difficult to actually find some time to take make posts for the blog because sometimes a post could take a day or more. The first impressions pop out pretty fast but those still take a good 5-6 hours for me to craft and by the time I’m done, it’s time for bed to go to work the next morning. I applaud each and every one of you anibloggers who write episode reviews, it’s a lot of work and we the readers all appreciate what you do! I don’t think I could keep up and so I think I will be taking a much slower approach to blogging. Rather than trying to keep up with the latest and greatest, I think I want to take a step back and use my knowledge of anime to create a sort of knowledge base for anime watchers whether you’ve been watching since Astro boy or if you joined in on the Dress-up Doll craze! Some advice and maybe some definition or explanations of character tropes or genres, which I could then link to should I use an anime-specific term in a review. I’ve been thinking about starting the Anime 101 series for a while and I think it’s time that I start! (Also, if you have any ideas or suggestions for the Anime 101 series let me know I’d love to see what you all would want to see or learn about!)

As a fun sidebar on the blog, I will also continue to post my convention adventures, once things are safe again of course! It’d be fun to be able to travel the world and see different anime conventions under the Kiritonarukami name!

This is Not the (end) but a New Beginning

To all of my followers, readers, fellow anibloggers, and new visitors on this site…Thank you for reading all my ramblings, liking my posts, and talking to me through the comments. I’m starting to make this sound like I’m going to shut the blog down but I’m not! I just wanted to tell you that your support means everything to me and I hope to continue to provide you all with wonderful content and talk to you all about anime! I will still be posting, albeit at a much slower pace, but there will still be new content on the blog!

If you want to stay in touch, I’m pretty active on Twitter and I’ll be doing a lot of live streaming on Twitch (I play mostly horror games but I’m trying to play more anime, and maybe at some point try anime watch-a-longs? Idk I haven’t gotten that far yet lol). My contact is also up to date with my email as well!

I hope you all stay safe and healthy and I’ll see you soon!
