Shokugeki no Souma: San no Sara – Toutsuki Ressha-hen [Review]

“The second half of the third season of Shokugeki no Soma. This part covers the Promotion Exams Arc ”-Kiritonarukami
Story:
Shokugeki no Soma continues to be powerhouse delivering mouth-drooling episodes and plowing through the plot line. Though it was enjoyable, the story still feels like it’s being rushed. There are a lot of side characters didn’t get screen time nor were given any backstories to fit in the universe of Shokugeki no Soma. This breaks up the flow of the plot and lost me while watching the Régiment de Cuisine.
Artwork & Animation:
Food and fan service are the two things that everyone looks forward to the most in Shokugeki no Soma. Although we do get that, it is at a much lower rate than the previous seasons. I understand that this arc is to establish Nakiri Azami’s motive and the backstory for Joichiro but it’s still disappointing to see the animation for the cooking portion get cut back for more backstory.
Character(s):
As mentioned before there were a few characters that didn’t get any screen time. For example the new Eighth and Fifth seat in the Elite ten, Julio Shiratsu and Shoko Kaburagi respectively. Both of these characters would seemingly play a big role in Central’s fight against the Rebels, yet they were given such minimal backstories. Shoko Kaburagi didn’t even get an introduction besides that she won the fifth seat in a competition set up by central. She was defeated without us even seeing what her skills were. This was a great opportunity to add some more character but instead, they were thrown into the fray and cast out just as quickly.
Sound (OST & Voice Acting):
Both the opening and ending theme pair quite well with Shokugek and the soundtrack itself continues to ties the voice acting to the art and the story. Also high praise to Hisako Kanemoto for taking the enormous role of Nakiri Erina in place of Risa Taneda. It has already been announced that Taneda-San will not be returning as Erina.
Enjoyment:
Shokugeki has had me hooked since the first season and although this season didn’t do as well as the others, I hope that JC Staff will get their stuff together and buckle down for this upcoming season.
Overall: Score 8
Continuing to gain popularity Shokugeki no Soma presents the Promotion Arc. Although the art and animation are starting to deteriorate in quality and the story being cut short to fit with the tight schedule of 12 episodes. Season three is still entertaining and builds up for the fourth season which has already been announced!
Best Girl: Nakiri Erina
No surprise here and in this season she gets better and better. After finally being able to stand up against her Father Erina becomes both a friendlier and more open person and a much more skillful chef. And there hints on a Soma x Erina ship that’s about to set sail!

Damn this arc was awesome. Couldn’t wait for the 4th season so i continued with the manga
