First Impression:
You have no idea how happy I am to be able to finally watch the first episode of this mysterious show. I haven’t been exposed to the source material nor did I watch anything other than the latest trailer in preparation for this first episode!
The first person perspective was such a good choice as well as the distortion! The eerie atmosphere is established right from the get-go!
If there’s a scene with ravens eating a dead animal…you know this anime is about to scar you for the rest of your life LOL.
I’m so lost but man does it feel good! The subtle foreshadowing through the first half of the episode really preps you for the absurd events that will occur throughout the episode. This is key in directing and writing, a lot of anime attempt to give this mysterious atmosphere without giving enough context or foreshadowing and leaves audiences in the dark and that in turn leaves the audience uninterested.
The unearthly features of the half transformation creates shivers down my spine, which makes me even more interested in show and these “monsters”.
Ah the end of the first episode and we’re already encountering another “monster”. The story development is at a good pace although maybe a tad bit too fast, but I have high hopes that it’ll work out well.
Recommendation:
YES
If you love dark anime with really twisted scenarios, then this is the show for you. The insane foreshadowing and the already ominous things that are occurring in just the first episode leaves much to be desired from the story and fingers crossed the rest of the show will deliver something that might haunt us for the rest of the season. WARNING, this is for mature audiences, it has a lot of ecchi (sexual tension) and will feature disturbing scenes. This is not for the faint of heart.
