First Impression:
Well, I’m going in as blind as a bat, so let just get right into it!
God of Highschool starts off with a bang! I’m enjoying the energetic soundtrack and the colorful opening sequence! Bits and pieces of Mori’s (featured in the image above), our main character, past are revealed something about him missing his grandfather. While vague, it does give some interest to Mori and the overall plot.
*SIDE NOTE: GUESS WHO LEARNED HOW TO INSERT SLIDESHOWS LMAO
LOL I DON’T KNOW WHAT JUST HAPPEN BUT I AM LOVING EVERY SECOND!
IT GETS BETTER LMAO!
Overall, I think the graphic design of the show is real SLICK, I mean check out that eye-catch! They’re simple and very dynamic. This also applies to the opening sequence that I mentioned earlier, while the opening features much more complicated animations the simplified color palette gives it a punch that really nice to watch. Though later in the episode the same animation for the fight sequences in the opening would be recycled for the actual episode itself, which isn’t a bad…per se, though it sticks out like a sore thumb and can be a turn off for some viewers.
One more example of the dynamic animation that God of Highschool and also what makes the story interesting. As you may have guess it’s going to be about a martial arts tournament between contestants with the winner being granted any wish that they want!
Recommendation:
YES
While I’m not very excited about the idea of being granted “any wish you desire”, as most of the storyline that involves something similar fall flat for me, I am optimistic about the characters and soundtrack. Definitely give this a try if you’re a fan of the Webtoon Comic! I’m on the edge of recommending this because I haven’t read the source material but if I had to make a choice, I would say yes! I think it’s interesting enough to give at least the 3-episode rule. How it plays out the rest of the show is up in the air!
